Tony Dobbs
Position: UK—Ireland
Publications Coordinator
Hi, my name is Tony and I’m a senior
keeper on mammals North at ZSL London Zoo. I started at London in 2007 but
prior to that I worked at Paignton Zoo from 2000. While at Paignton I was
heavily involved with the development of the enrichment programmes that are
currently being used. When I first started at the zoo enrichment was the domain
of the science department but over the years I was involved in the gradual
switch to keepers becoming heavily involved and actually developing their own
devices and timetables.
I have presented talks on enrichment
and the timetable system that I helped develop at a number of conferences; I
like to think that those who have seen my talks would hopefully remember them,
although not always for the right reasons… Now that I’m at London Zoo I have
started the process of developing a complete enrichment timetable system and a
system of monitoring and assessing the enrichment that’s used.
