SHAPE—Africa Fundraising
Co-ordinator
Hi. I am currently the Enrichment Officer at the
Johannesburg Zoological Gardens, South Africa. I have attained a BSc Honours in Zoology and am currently enrolled for BTech in Business Administration.
I am passionate about animals and making a difference in everything I embark
on. I love traveling, reading, music, and movies. My favourite motto
is “Be the change you want to see.”
Fundraising
Co-ordinator responsibilities:
To manage and promote the SHAPE—Africa organization to an external audience. In so doing facilitate awareness
of the cause and motivate support of all forms from other organizations and
individuals. Specific tasks include, but
are not limited to:
1. Work with all forms of media and
producing supporting materials, to promote, market and advertise forthcoming
events.
2. Increasing funds through
researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match that of
SHAPE—Africa’s projects and activities.
3. Planning, building and
maintaining profitable, long-term fundraising relationships with donors and
potential donors.
4. Co-ordinate all specific fund raising opportunities aimed at sponsorship
of individual events, such as:
- Funding and/or
support of materials for enrichment workshops.
- Prizes for raffles
at future SHAPE—Africa
meetings and
conferences.
- Financial sponsors
for individual projects e.g. transport costs for volunteers to assist in
long term enrichment projects.
5. Co-operate and assist the events co-ordinator to ensure all planned
programs have maximal support.
6. Report all sponsorship successes to the secretary for inclusion in the
newsletter in order to advertise and thank all companies and individuals that
give their support.
7. Work closely with the treasurer to ensure all donations are received and
recorded correctly.
8. Personally and professionally promote animal enrichment in a positive
light and refrain from any act that may bring you as an individual and
subsequently the organization into disrepute.
