Laura Ippolito
Position: Shape—Brasil Committee
Member
Laura is the biologist responsible for the
Aquário de São Paulo. Having graduated from the Universidade Mackenzie, she has
been studying animal behaviour since graduation, and has always been involved
in the animal welfare cause. She has worked with neurosciences and animal
behaviour at the Universidade de São Paulo, and is currently taking a
post-graduate course in Marine Vertebrates Husbandry and Conservation.
An advocate of animal welfare, Laura believes
that environmental enrichment should outreach beyond zoological gardens’
exhibits, reaching places like bioteria, respecting and providing physical and
psychological welfare of all animals that, for any reason, may be in captivity.
Currently, along with The Shape Brazil, she is
starting environmental enrichment initiatives in the Aquário de São Paulo’s
exhibits.
