César
Ades graduated in Psychology (1965) and completed an MSc and Ph.D. in
Experimental Psychology (1969 and 1973). He is also a Professor in the
Institute of Psychology, in the University of São Paulo. Cesar was a
Vice-Director (1998 – 2000) and Director (2000 – 2004) in this
Institute.
Nowadays,
he is the Director of the Advanced Studies Institute in the University of São
Paulo, among several other academic activities. Cesar is a member of the International
Council of Ethologists, the International Society of Comparative Psychology,
and is currently vice-president, besides being a founder of the Brazilian
Ethology Society. Since 1999, he has been the editor of the Revista de
Etologia (Journal
of Ethology) and a member of the Editorial Board of the journals Behavior and
Philosophy and Acta Ethologica. César Ades is also the head of the Ethology
Laboratory in the Institute of Psychology, University of São Paulo. This
Laboratory develops studies in the areas of ethology, animal behavior, animal
cognition, and animal welfare.
