Kylise Hare

As the Daughter of one of The Shape of Enrichment founders, Kylise has grown up assisting with the mailing of Shape
issues. She was an assistant instructor (behavioral data collection and
statistics) in The Shape of Enrichment Workshops in South Africa, and is now
the editor of the Conference Calendar posted on this website.
Kylise graduated from the University of
California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fish Conservation
Biology. She grew up helping her family enrich her pets and watching her mom
enrich zoo animals. Her first experience working with exotic species was
studying the behavior various primate and bear species for the San Diego Zoo.
She also worked for the San Diego Zoo Education Department. Since then, Kylise has focused on working with wild populations,
beginning with monitoring various heron species for the UC Davis Wildlife
Museum. She has volunteered for the California Waterfowl Association monitoring
wild wood duck populations, and has worked for UC Davis studying the behavioral
development of wood ducks (Aix sponsa). Kylise
has been a member of both the Davis student chapter and the western section of
the Wildlife Society.
Kylise has volunteered for various
education-related organizations including The San Diego Science and Engineering
Fair, which fosters scientific inquiry among San DiegoÕs youth. She has
volunteered for Inventors Showcase, an annual competition that encourages
students of all ages to invent and innovate. Kylise
has also helped create and volunteered for Davis Outreach, an organization that
helps underprivileged high school students through the college application
process.
